We want to unite Armstrong County around the tenets of the Make America Healthy Again movement culturally and legislatively. 

Culturally, we want to compile a map of food suppliers in the county who align with these tenets, and inspire Armstrong residents to form the daily habit of walking.

Legislatively, we want to workshop the Food Freedom ordinance below and begin proposing its adoption to municipalities across the county.

America is the least healthy wealthy nation. Its ten leading causes of death are heart disease, cancer, accidents, lung disease, stroke, Alzheimer's, diabetes, flu/pneumonia, kidney disease, and suicide (MedicalNewsToday.com). Walking ameliorates all of these causes of death.

Keep in mind that politicians prey on an unhealthy population with false promises to come and rescue. Their solutions, more spending and more bureaucracy, have always failed. Thanks to the politicians, medical care costs Americans $4.5 trillion each year, half paid by taxes (CMS.gov). 

A daily morning walk for 30-45 minutes with your family, friends, or neighbors can make a drastic difference in your health, greatly shrink healthcare costs and therefore taxes, and will increase your mobility, life expectancy, mood, and political liberty. All while proving how direct action can do what governments cannot: improve your life and liberty.

On these walks, people can share other valuable ideas for improving health and bettering their communities, and can discuss dozens of other direct action ideas to increase American Liberty. AN ORDINANCE PROMOTING FOOD FREEDOM IN [CITY/ TOWN]

WHEREAS, every individual has the right to choose what they eat, and to purchase and consume food from the source of their choosing without interference, coercion, or regulation from any third party,

WHEREAS, local producers and entrepreneurs should have the freedom to produce and sell food directly to consumers without undue government interference,

WHEREAS, the residents of [City/Town] value access to locally produced food and the ability to purchase and sell homemade and small-scale food products without government interference,

WHEREAS, current state and local food regulations may be overly burdensome for small-scale food producers and limit consumer choice,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the [City/Town] Council that:

This municipality recognizes the fundamental right of individuals to choose the foods they eat, and the right of local food producers to sell their products directly to consumers without excessive regulation.

This ordinance prohibits any government entity from interfering with the direct farm-to-consumer exchange of food and food products produced and sold within the municipality, including but not limited to zoning restrictions, licensing requirements, and inspections.

This ordinance also nullifies any state or federal food regulations that violate the rights of individuals and local food producers within this municipality.

We urge all local businesses, consumers, and residents to support the freedom of food choice and to reject any attempts to impose undue regulations on local food production and sales.
